What's in your bag?

Hey Guys,

I know that I said that I would do more posts about beauty and beauty products. Well here is my first post about beauty! I'm a little nervous to share because I consider myself still a beginner in beauty. I don't usually do a contour. I am a highlight and a golden glow kind of girl. I don't use super expensive beauty products and I don't use super cheap products either. My make up bag is a hodge podge of different price point products. So without further ado here is what's in my bag. ( I do apologize. I should have actually taken pictures of my real products but this thought just occurred to me now.)

1. Cleansing

We all know that no makeup routine is complete without the first essential step of washing our faces. I do have an oily T-Zone with rather large pores on my cheeks. I don't have sensitive skin so I pretty much just wash my face with regular soap. As I enter my thirties, I do actually want to have good skin care routine down. But for right now, I'm sticking to my Ivory. I love Ivory for your entire body. Its pretty no muss no fuss soap. Its clean and simple. It has a light scent that says I'm clean without being overpowering. I even Google Ivory soap + babies and there are a few articles out there that say that you can use Ivory on babies. Its very reasonably priced and I love the way my face feels after I wash with Ivory. It doesn't feel tight or dry. I feel clean and my face loves it.
2. Toner

Now this is a brand new step for me. I'm trying to find products that control oil and shrink my large pores. I went to Wal-Mart and found this toner on sale for like $2! I decided to give it try because its was on sale. I also didn't want to spend a lot of money on something that could potentially not work for me. I've been using it at least once a day. I use it twice a day when I remember to. I must say that I really love this products. I'm not as oily in my T-Zone and my large pores have been less noticeable. I also like that this doesn't dry my face out either. The scent is very light. The product does contain Witch hazel so be careful when you use it around your eyes. I typically just take a cotton ball and get about 4-5 pumps of the product and swipe it over face. I usually use more on the area where my pores are the largest. You get a lot of oil and dirt and that don't come off from just washing your face.

3. Eye Cream

Now I work with someone that worked for Clinique. My Pat! Pat is an older lady that has gorgeous skin. Her beauty tip to me was that I was never too early to start an eye cream. I get a ton of sample from her! One of my favorite samples is the All About the Eye Cream. I do not use this every. I simply don't have time for or don't remember to do all these steps. I take a very small amount under my eyes. I use my middle or ring fingers and tap it under my eyes. I then use my index finger to smooth the cream under my eyes. There is little to no scent for this product. The packaging is pretty. I do think this cream can last a long time. I have only the samples and I've been using it forever.

4. Moisturizing

I am admitting that I don't usually use a specific face cream or lotion. I usually use whatever I'm using on my body. Again I will try to get a real skin care routine sometime soon. But right now I am using this Cantu body butter. Again I found this in the same section as the toner. It was on sale for $2.50! I love anything with cocoa butter and shea butter. As the colder months are approaching, I like to use anything with extra moisture. I like that way that this smooths on. I usually take a small amount on my finger tips and smooth all over my face. The scent on this is very light and I like the texture. I've never seen this at Wal-Mart so I bought all of the ones that I saw around. Hopefully I'm able to find this again. But I do have a few for back up.

I think this post is getting a little long so I'm going to stop here. I will come back with actual makeup products that I use. I think I'm actually going to take pictures of the products too.

Be Fierce, Ladies!

Hey Guys!

I'm back with a short post today. Last night I had the pleasure of working with one of my favorite Cleveland designers Candence Caprice! She is in the midst of preparing to be apart of a fashion show on November 5th. She hadn't had an opportunity to see the girls walk that are in her scene so last night she had an impromptu rehearsal. I record them walking to Beyonce's Partition. so I hope you guys enjoy!

Macaroons, Fashion, and a Dancing Elephant!

Hey Guys!

This past weekend I had the opportunity to go to Yellowcake's 6th Annual Hullabaloo! Yellowcake is owned by the amazing Valerie Mayen.. She is a two time Project Runway Alumni right here in Cleveland. She hosts this amazing fashion event once a year and the show takes on a philanthropic aspect. The proceeds from ticket sales go towards various charities. This year the event sponsored L'Arche. L'Arche is an organization that supports individuals with intellectual disabilities . She even had some of the residents walk in the fashion show portion of the evening! Again it was simply incredible. I'd never been to one of her fashion events and it was so much fun not to mention there were a lot of free snacks! LOL. I'd never had a macaroon so I had the chance to try one from Sugar Bomb Confections. It was quite tasty. I liked them a great deal! There was even a nail salon that was there as well. The nail salon was offered hand massages. They also offered to paint your ring fingers purple in order to raise awareness for domestic violence. I thought that this was really nice. The fashions were beautiful and the models were simply gorgeous. I like when they have a clean and simple look. The venue was outdoor under a beautifully decorated tent. There were all kinds of people which I enjoy. I love that fashion brings so many people together. You can meet so many people different backgrounds. All in all I am so excited for Hullabaloo 2018! The finale of the show bought us a dancing giant pink elephant and a the tallest drag queen in Cleveland! I laughed, danced, and meet so many amazing people. More pics below!

Ohio Fashion Week

Hey Guys! Recently I had the amazing opportunity to volunteer at Ohio Fashion Week. It was such an amazing experience. So this was the second year that this event took place and I must say that I had a ball. It was so much fun working with all the models and the designers. We got a chance to chat before and after the show and I made a lot of connections. My job during the show was running back of the house.  So for those who are not familiar with these terms basically I ran the show! I cued the models, lined them up and let the DJ know when we were ready for the next collection. It requires a lot of attention to detail and the ability to handle TONS of different personalities. There were also children involved in the show so that presents a different set of requirements.
The director of Ohio Fashion Week and I.
I love go to and and produce fashion shows. I really enjoy the thrill of the entire event. There are a lot of unsung heroes at a fashion show. I must say that I walked in and I was just ready to do whatever Jackie needed me to do. Jackie was completely astound that I was able to so effectively run the back of house that she sent me a message the following week! Eek! I was so excited. Hopefully this will lead to more and more shows! Enjoy some of the pictures and video from Ohio Fashion Week. I didn't get as many pictures that I wanted to because as I said I was running around with a clipboard for most of the night.

Panties, Bras, and Shapewear Oh My!

Hey Guys,

I wanted to also share with you some of the work that I've done at my previous position. I worked for a catalog company where I worked with intimate apparel. I had the opportunity to work with some of our models and go to some of the photo shoots. In my position, I was responsible for making sure that our production team had everything that they needed in order to shoot our garments properly. It was definitely a juggling act because the company I worked for house 9 -12 different catalog titles and intimate apparel was in at least 8 of those titles! Not only that but some of the catalogs did not have the same assortment. So I was handling at least 5 different assortments at a time. I also handled over 100 different skus in a season. I am a natural multi-tasker so it was nice to be comfortable handling so much at one time. So enough with boring you to death. Here are a few shots of the work that I handled.

Pretty Little Black Girls

Hey Guys! As stated previously, I wanted to let you guys in on the projects that I've been on. Well from the title this is one of my projects. I had the opportunity to work with Naturally. This a start up company that one of the girls that I went to college started (Hi Tiana!) She allowed me to bring forth her vision for her company! I was very much humbled by the opportunity but I went right to work. For this particular shoot, I selected ALL of the models, I found the photographer (Orlando McCall) and found the studio that we shot in! Whew! It was a lot of fun though and I enjoyed working with the girls. The shoot lasted about an hour and a half and I am extremely proud of the end result. The shoot was a lot of fun and I enjoyed working with girls and their moms.
Here are some behind the scenes photos as well as a few shots of the final product. Please Enjoy.
